>> "...that's so great to hear you're getting into cycling. I too am mad for cycling. I just recieved my Dad's old racing bike that he rode when he was my age. It was worth a mint when he bought it - $250 back in '71. Its an Italian annodised gold, aluminium frame, in other words, it is super light weight and rides like a vintage dream.

This bike embodies a lot more than that though. It is a story. It has history and the scars to prove it. Both the bike and my Dad's nose were broken in an accident, but being a stubborn (and thrifty) man, he had the bike welded back together. From afar, it sports all the cliches of an upcycled (pardon the pun) bike - all surface and no substance. However, its this silver welded scar interrupting its sleek gold body that reminds me of it's history.

Over the past year my Dad and I have forged a re-connection over riding. We meet up, pick a local track and then chat about all things over the constant whirring of the pedals. It is possibly the most beautiful gift that he has ever bestowed. And it is most certainly my greatest inheritence."
